International Women’s Day Webinar – Meet the Speakers

Megan Yeates completed her Bachelor of Science (honours) degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management in Technological University Dublin with first class honours. In the summer of 2019, she completed an intense training programme with many of the key players in the Logistics industry in Ireland to help prepare me for WorldSkills and represented Ireland at WorldSkills Kazan in August 2019 where she won the inaugural Gold Medal in Freight Forwarding and Logistics. She is currently ranked as number one in the world now as a result. Megan is advocate for women and next generation joining the logistics industry and has given many presentations on the opportunities and encouraging women to consider a career in the sector.

 

Yvonne Sheehan is an Assistant Lecturer Technological University Dublin in Road Freight Logistics Apprenticeship. Highly accomplished business professional with extensive experience involved in the industry since 2003.
Transport Management lecturer who is organised, driven and effective at using efficient methods of teaching while focusing on the individual needs of each participant.
Training and consulting specialist, knowledgeable about theories and methods used in designing, developing, and delivering successful training programs and adult learning concepts in the logistics and Supply Chain Industry. Currently studying MSc in Strategic Management and conducting research around Women leaders in the Supply Chain and Logistics industry.

 

Adrian Byrne is the General Manager of ATC Computer Transport Logistics. With over 36 years’ experience in the Logistics and Supply Chain industry, Adrian has travelled extensively working on global projects for Amazon Web Services and several the worlds’ leading 3PLs including Nippon Express and Expeditors. Adrian holds a MSc. in Supply Chain Management and a Bachelor of Business degree in Supply Chain & Transport and is a chartered member of CILT. He is the outgoing chair of the FTAI freight committee and sits on the LAA consortium. Adrian is currently on TU Dublin MBA programme. Born and bred in Dublin, Adrian is a strong advocate for gender equality in our industry.

 

Kasia Steyn, Freight Services Executive at Irish Rail, originally from Krakow Poland, residing in Ireland since 2004 started her career in the logistics sector working at Ecocem Bagging Plant as a Procurement and Logistics Manager in 2012. She was employed in Maxol Lubricants as Logistics Coordinator at their manufacturing site in Dublin. Kasia has also worked in Freight Forwarding in Key Accounts and Operations for XPO Global Forwarding. Kasia is currently employed by Iarnrod Eireann in the Navigator Freight agency business and rail freight. In 2012, Kasia graduated from Dublin Business School with an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Business with Psychology. She has recently completed a bachelor’s degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management at Technological University Dublin.  Kasia holds a diploma in Freight Forwarding and Customs awarded by the International Freight Forwarding Association. She is also a Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser by Road, Rail, Sea and Air.

 

Pamela Dennison is a mother of two young girls and has forged a successful career in the road haulage sector in Northern Ireland.  Working from a young age in her father’s business, specialist furniture logistics company, W.S. Dennison Ltd, Pamela has gone on to hold various high-profile roles in the transport and logistics industry, most recently starting her role as Head of Industry Engagement for the Department for Transport in London (UK) and volunteers within CILT NI regional committee. As well as holding her Chartered Membership with CILT, a CPC and her C+E license. In 2019 she was picked to represent Ireland in the World driving championships in Gent, Belgium in left hand trucks competing against competitors from as far afield as South Africa.

 

Special Guest:  Gayani de Alwis, CMILT,  Global Chairperson WiLAT

Gayani is a leading Supply Chain Professional. She was the former Director, Customer Service and Management Committee member of Unilever Sri Lanka LTD responsible for Supply Chain. During her 19-year tenure with Unilever locally and overseas, she worked in Supply Chain, R&D and Quality Assurance prior to her early retirement to start her own consulting career. She was the first female Director for Supply Chain from South Asia in Unilever. Gayani holds a MBA from Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM) of University of Sri Jayewardenepura Sri Lanka and MSc in Food Process Engineering from University of Reading, UK.

Gayani is the Global Chairperson of WiLAT. She is the Immediate Past President of Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) and Founding Chairperson and Advisor of Women in Logistics and Transport (WiLAT) Sri Lanka. She is a Fellow of Institute of Supply and Materials Management (ISMM) and a Board member of the Women’s Chamber of Industry and Commerce (WCIC).

She has been a strong advocate of women empowerment and has received many awards and accolades for her career achievements. She is a Non-Executive independent Director of Singer Sri Lanka PLC and a Director of Logicare Pvt LTD and a Consultant to the World Bank, ADB and many leading blue chip companies and a visiting faculty member for postgraduate programs in many local and foreign universities.
