Programme overview

This FREE course will specifically focus on the economic operators’ responsibilities regarding Entry Summary Declarations (ENS) when importing into the customs territory of the EU and how to complete these declarations in the Import Control System (ICS).

The course is designed to give participants an understanding of why ENS declarations are necessary, the obligations on the parties submitting these declarations and who is responsible.

Attendees will learn the background to safety and security entry requirements for products entering the EU customs territory. They will understand why ENS declarations are needed and the legal requirements of the supply chain actors involved.

They will also learn how to complete these declarations and submit them to the EU Import Control System (ICS) and how to navigate the common error messages involved in this process. Participants will also understand how to connect to the ICS system when submitting these declarations to Irish customs.

The course will give practical examples of how to submit an ENS declarations to the ICS system for the three most common means of transport, road, sea and air, when entering the EU for a third country.

It will also contain updates on the new ICS2 system effective from 15 March 2021 for express carriers and European based postal operators and third country postal operators shipping to Europe.

This self-paced course is delivered through eLEARN; CILT Skillnet's e-learning platform.
